Transverse encapsulation is often used to reinforce reinforced concrete columns with CFRP. The confinement effect of CFRP on concrete is similar to that of stirrups, which can make the encapsulated concrete in a three-dimensional compressive state. The restraint effect of CFRP is a passive restraint. With the increase of concrete axial force, transverse expansion CFRP produces circumferential elongation, so as to achieve the purpose of lateral restraint of concrete.
