Application of carbon fiber reinforced polymer(FRP) to repair and reinforce concrete structure in civil engineering

• Beams and slabs: flexural members are strengthened in the tensile area – the long bonding carbon fiber cloth. Design and determine the number of sticker layers as required. The cracks in the tensile area can be sealed with carbon fiber sheets after pouring, so as to control the continuous maintenance of cracks.
• Beam: shear reinforcement – carbon fiber sheets are placed on the vertical axis of the beam for the diagonal cracks produced by the main tensile stress, and when necessary, the unidirectional fiber sheets can be pasted together.
• The central pressure of the column and pier, the eccentric compression, the reinforcement of the central compression member of the lateral force member – the central part of the column, strengthen the restraint to the concrete and improve the compressive strength. Eccentric compression members and seismic reinforcement – the columns are pasted longitudinally on the four sides; the plastic hinge area of pier columns is flexural reinforcement. When the column is subjected to lateral force, the shear strength of the column ends with ring hoop (equivalent stirrup encryption). The ductility reinforcement of column structure is combined with bending and shear reinforcement.
• Shear walls – single or double sided carbon fiber sheets along the direction of shear reinforcement.
• Other structures: towering structures: chimneys, silos, water towers – similar to the force conditions of the piers and columns; the side walls of the tank and gas tank are strengthened; culverts and tunnels – bending, tensile and reinforcement under abnormal stress conditions.
• Sealing – bonding carbon fiber sheets to make carbon fiber and concrete work together to extend the service life of concrete components.
